That is Google SEO.
I thought it just added the search box.
It is the Error page from the Google SEO plugin - the 404 I think.

No, G SEO just adds the search. See for yourself...

Hmm. So the default behaviour on an incorrect sign up is to be sent to the default error page. Which is the 404 page in Google SEO. That is a case of the error page system thing in MYBB not being specific enough? Maybe in member.php it is possible to change the redirect.

Google SEO doesn't prevent redirects or anything. It just adds a search box when MyBB displays a static error page anyway. I admit it's not particularly useful in this case - but there's only so much you can do. The error message itself is MyBB's.
No criticism of the search box here, frost – well, I mean, it's weird, but it's not the real issue.

envira, I don't like that the two columns aren't the same height. I don't understand the purpose of the huge yellow notice, either.
