I want only to open box and reset notifications counter to 0 it's possible?

That's not possible at the minute, but the next version will likely act this way.

1. I might well have forgotten to colour new alerts, I will check that.
2. The new way is the new default, due to feedback from the 1.x version where people were saying they only want it marked read on click. A future version will have a separate "mark as read" button for each alert. There's also the "mark all alerts as read" button at the bottom of the modal.
